Wangaehu River Still High Last Night

Last night the Wangaehu River was still in high flood, though reports indicated that the water appeared to be receding. A portion of the main highway near the old railroad crossing was still under water, but traffic had been negotiating the road without difficulty. The low-lying property adjacent to the Wangaehu Hotel was also flooded by overflow waters from the river, which came within about 20 yards of the building.
