Wanganui Man Wins N.Z. Forces Tennis Singles Title
The New Zealand forces singles tennis championship was won by E. M. Dashlield (2nd Battalion, N.Z. Regiment), of Wanganui, who beat D. M. Leary, of Wellington (No. 14 Squadron, R.N.Z.A.F.), in the final by 6-3, 6-0, In the semi-finals Dashfield beat D. A. Duncan (A.S.C ), of New Brighton, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 and Leary beat W. R. Wallace (2nd Battalion), of Hawera, 6-3, 6-0. New Zealand men’s and women's teams will compete in the 8.C.0.F. tennis championships at the end oi July.
E. M. Dashfield was prominent in Wanganui tennis circles before going overseas. When at the Wanganui Collegiate School he was a member of the first Rugby fifteen.
