REPORTS OF POLITICAL CRISIS DEVELOPING WITHIN YUGOSLAVIA
(N.Z.P.A.—Copyright.) Recd. 8.10 p.m. London June 26 South Eastern European reports suggest that a serious political crisis has arisen in Yugoslavia, says the “Manchester Guardian’s” diplomatic correspondent. Marshal Tito’s relations with Moscow are believed to be strained largely because of conflicting views on relations with the west. Even the question of Tito’s whereabouts is being discussed. It is believed the Yugoslav situation was on the Warsaw Foreign Minister’s conference agenda. Marshall Tolbukhin is believed to be in Belgrade trying to accomplish without difficulty, the removal of other Premiers from their satellite States. Tito is a sensational figure, who cannot be replaced. He also has the Army’s full support. Other signs of a Yugoslav crisis have been (1) The only Budapest newspaper to notice Tito’s birthday was one Opposition paper, which apparently had not heard of the trouble in Yugoslavia. (2) A telegram conveying good wishes from Hungary’s non-Commu-nist Premier was neld up and withdrawn from the wireless bulletins. (3) There were no Yugoslav representatives at the recent Congress for fusion with the Hungarian Communists and Socialists.
