REPORTED SUCCESSES BY NATIONAL ARMY IN CHINA ON THREE FRONTS

(N.Z.P.A.—Reuter—Copyright.) Recd. 6.55 p.m. Nanking, June 9 China’s Nationalist armies have scored important successes on three major fronts, according to dispatches from the front line. In “the greatest victory in Central China in the past few months," the Nationalists routed 8000 Communist troops in souts-west Honan. The Nationalists took prisoner many fleeing Communists, who were straffed and bombed by planes. In Jehol mechanised units advanced within 15 miles of the Communist rail base of Choayang, as the four-pronged Nationalist offensive gathered momentum. Communists are reported to be falling back along the entire front as the Nationalists fought to keep open the Jehol corridor for an impending battle for Manchuria. The big push on the ShantungKiangsu border also has progressed in the past 24 hours.
