Wanganui Soccer Matches Continued On Saturday

(By "Waverley.”) The Wanganui Football Association Shield competition was advanced a further stage on Saturday, when Tech. Old Boys and Athletic scored wins against Eastbrooke and Rangers respectively. Grounds were heavy after the recent rain and players experienced difficulty in controlling the ball. On Victoria Park Tech. Old Boys came with a late run to finally defeat Eastbrooke by 5 goals to nil. The Eastbrooke defence played well and it was only in the last fifteen minutes of play that the past students made victory certain by scoring three quick goals to make the score: Tech. Old Boys 5, Eastbrooke 0. The referee was Mr. A. Thomson. On Cook’s Gardens Athletic combined well to defeat Rangers by 5 goals to 1. Play was ragged, due perhaps, to the uneven state of the ground. Only Heath, of the Rangers’ forwards looked really dangerous. The referee was Mr. D. Ross.
