Man Took Five Hams; Said He Had Black-Out

(P.A.) Gisborne, May 26. Sentence of two months’ imprisonment was imposed by Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., on Donald Alexander McCallum, a labourer, who pleaded guilty to the theft of five hams, valued at £l5, on December 20. Detective-Sergeant Waterson, prosecuting, said McCallum took the hame from a shed at the rear of a Gisborne butchery, engaged a taxi, and left three on the doorsteps of friends. Accused.- in evidence, said he had twice suffered concussion, and when he took liquor he had a black-out.
