WANGANUI RUGBY

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Routine matters before the management committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union were dealt with at its fortnightly meeting, held last night. A suggestion from the Manawatu Union that the Wanganui and Manawatu junior representative teams provide the curtain-raiser to the senior match, Manawatu v. Wellington, on King's Day (June 7) at Palmerston North, was agreed to, Mr. E. Simpson was nominated manager of the Wanganui juniors. Trophy Challenges. Challenges for trophies received from the Kai Iwi Club (Wilson Cup) and Kaierau Club (Maoriland, Bijou, and Wilson Cups), were referred to the fixtures committee. Advice was received from the N.Z.RU. that the application of RT. Downs for reinstatement has been granted. The request of the senior player, S. Daley, for a transfer from Pirates Club to Marist was granted, subject to his obtaining a clearance from the former club. After discussion on the dates of July 17 or 24, as alternative days for the match with Bush Districts, the matter was deferred and no definite date was set. Mr. Lloyd Stewart was appointed manager of the Wanganui representative B team to plav Taranaki B at Naw fijyjnouth on King's Day.
