SANDY'S CORNER

WRESTLING Dear Sandy,—Wrestler disqualified “when he dumped the referee over the, ropes.” Now I ask you—what dinkum wrestler (supposed to be wrestling for a purse) would do this, knowing that instant disqualification would result? No v doubt it was very spectacular, and 'delighted the flock of gulls in the foreground. By the way, are there any import restrictions on these wrestlers,—Yours, "Boston Grab." FIRESIDES POPULAR This is the sort of weather for firesides. It is nice to hear the patter of rain on the roof, to hear the wind whine round the eaves, so long as nobody lets it in, and know that you are not due to go out into the storm. It is nice to feel the warmth of blankets while it is raining and blowing, and know that you need not stir. The only thing needed to make it more complete, as one of our young friends told us yesterday, is to hear the fire brigade go to a fire—in somebody else’s place! VVAJKATO WATER WATERS DOWN THE CUTS With so much water running to waste in the Waikato, a hurried call was despatched by the Hydro outfit to power boards on Sunday to water down the power cuts. The announcement was so worded that people did not know whether they were to switch on every light in the house, turn on the electric range for the mere fun of turning it on, use their heaters and their sweepers, or to water the garden. It was a watery sort of message on a watery sort of day. As for us, the message left us cold. So long used to a candle, it wasn't much fun to be told there is so much water some of It is going to waste. Water, in our life, has been cheap. It is what goes with it that matters. We refused to turn on a single extra light, and we have a feeling Bob Semple will be annoyed. His watering fell on deaf cars and nursed Jins.
