U.S. To Improve Its Army And Air Force Bases In Marianas

Reed. 5.25 p.m. Washington, May 6 The United States proposes, until June, 1949, to spend 9,180,000 dollars on its army and air force bases in the Marianas. A Bill authorising tne expenditure was introduced in the House of Representatives today. The money will be used largely in replacement of temporary facilities which were found particularly adequate during the typhoon in September, 1946. Warehousing facilities for storing the meat and fresh vegetables, which must, be imported—normally once a month—will account for much of the expenditure.
