Patea Resents New Plymouth “Interference”
"Nothing more than another of the New Plymouth attempts made from time to time to try and interfere with Patea in the successful running of its own affairs in its own way," was a comment made at Patea on the move by the New Plymouth Harbour Board to create in the Taranaki province one harbour district. The South Taranaki - Shipping Company met at Patea, when it was thought that in all probability the matter would be discussed. The bodies interested would be the Patea Harbour Board and the West Coast Refrigerating Company, which handles the bulk of South Taranaki dairy produce transported to Wellington by the sh’ps of the company. "I have no comment to make at this stage,” said tne chairman of the shipping company. Mr. F. Parsons, when he was interviewed by telephone. The meeting was not open to the press and he did not think it wise to make any statement, until the question had been considered further. ‘We have had these alarms before.” said one official. "While some of the statements in the report are far from correct, I do not think we should be greatly concerned."
