GOVERNOR OF FIJI ARRIVES AT AUCKLAND

(P.A.) Wellington, Dec. 29. On his way to take up his office as Governor of Fiji and High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir Brian Freeston and Lady Freeston arrived from London by the Rimutaka today. For the past four years Sir Brian has been Governor of the Leeward Islands, British West Indies, and for four years before was Chief Secretary in Tanganyika. Among others on the ship were His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr. R. Boulton, the Britisn Consul-General In Morocco, Mr. C. G. Hope-Gil’, and his wife, the newlyappointed naval secretary in Wellington, Captain C. T. Millett, seven former Polish soldiers who intend settling in New Zealand, Mr. N. M. MacElwee, who has been appointed Professor of Electrical Engineering at Christchurch, and Dr. W. B. Luck, who will fill the position of senior assistant pathologist at the Auckland Public Hosplthi.
