Aramoho Residents Seek Their Own Recreation Ground

At a meeting of citizens at Aramoho recently, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Mr. R. G. Chamley to investigate the possibilities of the suburb acquiring a public sports ground. Mr. Chamley stated that the suburb was growing and that properties were difficult to obtain. Only four or -five suitable areas remained, and unless one of these was secured the chances of Aramoho having its own sports ground were very remote. He understood that the City Council was prepared to give all the assistance possible, but tlie first move must come from the people of Aramoho.

Since the project was mooted. Mr. Chamley added, he had received encouragement from all sides, and he did not doubt that public support would be forthcoming in a large measure once the initial step was taken. Co-operation was expected from kindred sports bodies in the city, and the establishment of a sports ground at Aramoho would lead to the formation of more local sports associations. The committee, under the title of th) Aramoho Sports Ground Association, and consisting of Messrs. R. G. Chamley (chairman), R. G. Howard (secretary), D. H. Bridges, J. Hodson and P. Church, is to report bats to a further public meeting in about two weeks' time.
