“Spivs” Not Wanted in Industry

(Special Correspondent—N.Z.P.A.) London, Oct. 2. Speaking at. Oxford, Sir Godfrey Ince, Permanent. Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, said that whatever was done to direct “spivs” into industry it could not make any serious contribution to relieving the manpower shortage. Employers were most reluctant to employ “spivs,” and many thought that if this type of individual was directed into their factories they would have a disastrous influence upon production. -
