Transfer of Football Pool Workers to Essential Industry

(N.Z.P.A.—Special—Copyright.) London, Oct. 2. The Government is not expected to direct all football pool workers inu, other industries, but to offer a substantial proportion of pool employees alternative employment. The Government proposes to use persuasion rather than direction in an effort to secure at least 20,000 additional female workers from the pools. It will be for various pool firms to decide what action they take to continue their businesses. The allocation of paper to the pools is expected to be halved.
