lhe Rev. Dr. E. L. Kilmeck. O.P who recently returned to England after spending 18 months ,n New Zealand, nas been elected Prior of Holy Cross Priory, Leicester. He was parish priest at Marton about 1925-26.
The Mayor of Auckland. Mr. Alluni, has been appointed the representative of the Municipal Association of NewZealand on the Soil Conservat.on and Rivers Control Council. The term ot the appointment is until June, 1952,
Lilian Maria Banks. R.N., R.M., Dorothy Isabella Buchanan. R.N., R.M., and Daphne Maude Heape, R.N..' R.M., have been appointed to the Nurses' and Midwives’ Board from September this year.
Mr. Bob Howell, formerly of Wanganui and now of Nelson,’ is visiting Wanganui. He took many parts in amateur theatricals staged by the Wanganui Musical and Dramatic Society and his brush painted many scenes for the shows that society staged In addition, Ml. Howell was an active member ot the Wanganui Savage Club, where he not only used his talents on the stage, but painted the interior of the present hapu and was responsible for many portra.ts in oils, most ol them in caricature, of leading members of the club. His brush also contributed a great deal to the visitors’ book, wherein his artistry found wide scope. Mr. Howell is to be the guest of the club at the final "korero" tonight.
