BEER BOTTLES BETTER TREATED THAN MILK BOTTLES.—HOUSEWIVES

Matters discussed at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Housewives’ Association included the question of chipped milk bottles and glass splinters found in the milk. The members endorsed the action of the committee in bringing to notice the condition of the bottles. It was stated that great care was taken of beer bottles and a chipped one was rarely seen. A page from a newspaper showing how carefully beef bottles were handled and the machinery used for cleaning them was brought by a member. It was the opinion that the cause of splintered and cracked milk bottles was the way they were treated with scalding water after being first washed in cold water. The secretary was instructed to write to the City Council and draw attention to the matter.
