YOUNG MAN BLAMES PURE ALCOHOL FOR THEFT FROM DANCE
Consumption of a quantity of pure alcohol -about 90 per cent, proof was given as an excuse foi the theft of a man’s overcoat, a pair of gloves and a scarf, said Detective L. B. Vasta when Morton Ross Davey, aged 18, was charged before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, vvanganui. on Monday. Accused was admitted to probation for 18 months and was ordered to make restitutio* for the scarf and gloves, which were not recovered. Detective Vasta said that complainant was a member of the ILN.Z.A.F. at Ohakea. He attended a dance in Wanganui and his greatcoat, scarf and gloves were removed from the building. When interviewed, accused admitted the Ih&t and said he had left the gloves and scarf in a tram shelter. The coat was recovered, but it hfd been altered and the buttons changed.
