HEAVY ENTRIES IN DAIRY AND PIG SECTIONS
Reporting on the Wanganui sale held yesterday. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. state that there was a good yarding of fat sheep, and an advance on fat hoggets. Ewes and wethers remained firm. A light yarding of store sheep were fully firm, and fat cattle sold at late rates. Oddments of store cattle were ya-Jed. There was a heavy entry’ in the dairy section, for the most part compr.sing backward heifers. Sale level was at a dec'dedly lower level than last week, when the general quality was well above yesterday s yarding. The report stated that pigs yarded well, acclaiming yesterday's showing as the best for some considerable time. Breeding sows sold well, also good top weaners. Store pigs were just a shadp easier. Sheep.—Fat wethers 3Ss 6d to 41s 6d; 'Down cross, 40s, hoggets (extra prime) 47s 3d; average, 33s to 35s 9d; light ewes, 24s 3d to 265; maiden ewes, to 40s 9d; ewe hoggets, 32s 6d to 355; m.a. ewes, mated ’Downs, 35s 9d Cattle.—Light bullocks, £l5; light cows, £7 10s to £8 10s; boners, £4 to £5 2s 6d; light, £2 to £3 7s 6d: good dairy cows (close up) £l2 to £l4; September calvers, £8 to £ll 10s; heifers (close up). £lllos to £l2 10s; due late August, £9 10s to £lO 10s; September calvers, not wanted.
Pigs.—Sows to farrow (sold in line at £l3 2s 6d); light porkers, £3 12s to £3 15s; stores. £2 4s to £2 Ils; good weaners, 36s to 40s: average, 30s to 355; small, 25s to 28s.
