RANGITIKEI WOMEN’S HOCKEY
FINAL POSITIONS OF TEAMS United (Marton) winners of the Rangitikei yVomen’s Hockey Championship for 1947, went through the season undefeated. whil P Te Kauwau (Sanson), runners-up, suffered only one loss and that was at the hands of United. These two teams were by far the strongest combinations in th e district, each scoring over half a century of goals in eight games, more than twic e as many as any other team. Tuis. Bulls, Huiinai and Aotea have played one game less than other teams, but this cannot affect 'the championship.
United had only thre e goals scored against them, while up to the final game Te Kauwau had only two registered against them, but United spoilt th c record by overwhelming the defence four times last. Saturday.
In the junior grade, Huntervillo, by one point won the premiership from Rata. Both thes e teams won six of their nine matches, but whereas Huntervine did not lese a game and drew three, Rata lost their first game with Huntervilie. Like the senior competition these teams were too strong for the Bully and Te Kauwau clubs. The positions of th e various teams at. the close of the competition are as follows: — SENIOR
