United Nation# Urged to Ask Dutch Government Reasons
Recd. 7.10 p.m. New York, July 22 The “New York Times,” in an editorial, says: “The lighting in Java, ►with its implications for all colonial peoples and for the Moslem world, is exactly the kind of threat to peace security that the United Nations was set up to prevent. We hope it HndS mean. 1 ; to enter the situation quickly.’’ The editorial suggests that the United Nations ask the Dutch Government why it has not taken advantage of Section 2 of Article 17 of the Cheribon Agreement, which provides that if the two Governments cannot settle any dispute they shall appoint a chairman of another nationality with a casting vote, or ask the President of the International Court of Justice to do so.
