Mr. S. T. Barnett, assislant-Under Secretary of the Lands and Survey Department, has been appointed as-sistant-director (administration) in the Education Department.

Mr. J. Robertson, a guard al the Marton railway station, yesterday completed 40 years’ service with the Railways Department and, on the eve of his retirement from the service was met by fellow offeers and made a presentation. Opportunity was also taken to farewell Mr. H. Cooke, a shunter, who has been transferred to Paeoa. Both men have been employed al Marton for (he last 12 years.
