MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL DISCUSSES STREET LIGHTING CHARGES

(0.C.) Marton, July 23. Particulars of a new method adopted in respect of street lighting charges were submitted by the WanganuiRangitike- Electric Power Board in a letter received at the Marton Borough Council meeting to-night. The Power Board advised that a credit of £26 4s 10d for the year ended March 31. 1947, would be available and the letter pointed ou: that the quarterly charge under the new method would be more favourable than under the old method.

Appieciation lor the use of a room in the Rest Room as a school dental clinic for many years was expressed in a letter fr>m the Department ot Health. The department advised that the new dental clinic in Wellington Road was now in operation. Mr A. Thompson, headmaster of the Matter. District High School, and Miss M. I. McDonald were appointed additional members of the library committee.

Those present at the meeting were: The Mayor. Mr F. Purnell. Crs. K. A. Williams, K H. Fowler, A. Gracie, A. Todd, J Caithness, J. Howard, and the town clerk, Mr. C C. McDonald.
