KEEN DEMAND AT WESTFIELD SALE

(P.A.) Auckland, July 16. There was less than the ayerage yarding of beef and a keen demand at Westfield to-day. Values for all classes were firmer and quotations were Is per 1001 b better than last week. Sneep were penned in average numbers. The demand was keen and values improved Is to 2s a head for all prime mutton. Lambs were penned iu large numbers and there was a ready demand, with values again very firm at late quotations. The calf yarding was less than the average, bidding being very keen for ail classes and values improving on last week’s sale. There was a very good yarding of fat and store pigs and both pork and bacon were in demand at advanced rates. Choppers sold freely.

Cattie.—Extra choice ox to £3 13s per 1001 b, choice and price, £2 9s to £2 12s; ordinary, £2 3s to £2 Bs. Extra prime young cow and heifer to £2 7s, choice and prime £2 4s to £2 6s, ordinary £2 to £2 3s. Extra heavy prime steers made £2O 10s to £2l 15s, heavy £l9 to £2O 7s 6d, medium £l7 to £lB 15s, light £l5 to £l6 17s, small and unfinished £lO to £l4 10s. Extra heavy prime cows and heifers sold at £l4 to £l5 15s, heavy £l2 to £l3 10s, medium £lO to £ll 15s, light £8 10s to £lO 7s 6d, small and unfinished £4 to £B. Sheep.—Extra heavy prime wethers made £2 12s to £2 13s 3d, heavy £2 10s to £2 Ils 9d, medium £2 6s to £2 9s 9d, light £2 to £2 5s bd, plain and unfinished 11 10s to £1 19s. Extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes £1 19s to £2 6s, heavy £1 16s to £1 18s, lighter £1 13s to £1 15s 9d, light £1 8s to £1 12s 6d, just killable £1 2s to £1 7s, others 10s to £1 Is.
