STOCKMARKET REPORTS

FIRM PRICES AT WANGANUI SALE Reporting on their Wanganui sale yesterday, Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., state that except for a good entry of springing dairy cows and heifers and a good yarding of store sheep, entries were very light. Prices were fully firm at late rates. G. Marshall and Son's m.a. ewes mated with S.D. rams made 38s 9d as did medium 2-tooth ewes mated with Romneys. M.A. ewes mated with Romneys sold at 335. A good entry of dairy stock came forward. Mr. C. Smith's herd sold at up to£l9 10s and average £l6 10s. Mr. L. A. Mackintosh’s herd sold up to £l6 10s and averaged £l2 ss. His heifers sold in a line at £l4. Good quality dairy cows and heifers, well forward, sold well, but backwards were neglected.

Sheep.—Fat maiden ewes, to 37s 2d; light fat wethers, to 34s 7d; m.a. ewes mated to 'Downs, 35s to 38s 9d; m.a. ewes mated to Romneys, to 335; medium 2-tooth ewes, 38s 9d; wether hoggets, 29s 6d to 29s lOd; medium, 24s 6d to 265; ewe hoggets, 32s Id; small, 22s 4d. Cattle.—Light P.A. cows, £9 15s; light ex-dairy cows, £5 12s 6d to £6 16s; boners (poor), £1 12s 6d to £3; Jersey yearling heifers, £4 15s; 2nd. and 3rd. calvers, close up, £l4 to £l9 10s; August calvers, £l2 to £l5 10s; backward and aged, £8 to £10; good forward heifers, £l3 to £l6; average, £l2 to £l3; 2-year heifers, £5 12s 6d to £6 12s 6d. Backward not wanted.

Pigs—Baconers. to £5 17s; average weaners, 30s to 365; small, 21s to 275.
