CANADIAN NEWSPRINT

INCREASED EXPORTS LIKELY THIS YEAR Canberra, March 15. Australia, New Zealand, and Britain were likely to get larger quantities of Canadian newsprint this year, said Mr. C. M. Croft, senior Canadian Trade Commissioner in Australia. He said that Canada’s production of newsprint in 1947 was expected to exceed 4.000,000 tons. Canada was now supplying more than half the world's newsprint, and would set aside 500,000 tons for division among the overseas markets. T’v» United States would get about 3,500,000 tons, and Canada would use 250,000 tons in domestic consumption.
