STORM DAMAGE CAUSES “BULLDOZER” PROBLEMS IN RANGITIKEI
Th e need for another bulldozer being purchased by the Rangitikei County Council was stressed by Cr. A. D. Mair when road damage caused by the recent southerly storm was under discussion at the monthly meeting in .Marton on Thursday. According to the county engineer’s - eport, said Mr Mair, s ix bulldozers, as well as the county’s own machine, were needed for clearing extensive slips which occurred on back-country roads. Frequent breakdowns, however, delayed the work. “This storm taught us a lesson. We need another bulldozer,’’ Cr. Mair added. There was no doubt that the preent bulldozer would find sufficient work to keep it fully occupied in the northern portion of the county, but one was required for the southern It was reported that, when the council purchased the present bulldozer an order was placed for two, but the second on e was not forthcoming. The council decid’d to make inquiries regarding a second machine being purchased.
