WANGANUI REGIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL TO MEET NEXT WEEK
The first meeting of the nexviy-con-stituted Wanganui Regional Planning Council will be held on Friday, March 14, when representatives of various local bodies will assemble in the board room of the Wanganui-Rangitikei Power Board. The council will be required to appoint a chairman, to consider the appointment of a secretary, and to discuss finance, particularly in relation to expenses involved in attending meetings. A plan of projected works for the regional planning area, intended to cover a 10-year period and announced in Wanganui last October hy the Minister of Works (Mr. Semple) will be discussed at the meeting. Recommendations, if any, are to be framed. Works not included in the existing plan, but which should be included, may be added from time to time. The acting-secretary, Mr. G. A. Ammundsen, said yesterday that local authorities wishing to make additions, were invited to submit them for recommendation by the Regional'Council. Representatives of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council have been invited to attend the meeting, following an announcement that the council intended visiting Wanganui to discuss with local bodies the question cf forming a catchment board for this district. Arrangements have also been made with the American Legation Service for the loan of its film showing developments undertaken by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
