MEAT FREEZING WORKS BECOMING TOO CONGESTED SAY FARMERS
The congestion at the Freezing works at killing time, and the delqy caused to the farmers was brought before the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Federated Farmers yesterday by Mr. R. S. Lilburn. The position arising in the district, he said, suggested that the works were inadequate to cope with the numbers of stock coming forward. “In view of the congestion at the existing works, the Meat Board should be urged to re-open new works, or take any other action thought fit to rectify the position," suggested Mr. Lilburn.
Mr. R. K. Pearce, supporting Mr. Lilburn, said that the only remedy would be to increase the size of the works. At present, he continued, the farmer was being forced to fatten less stock.
