FEILDING EWE FAIR

Abraham and Williams Ltd. report as follows on the Feilding Ewe hair, held last Friday. “The sale was confined to ewes, 4-tooth and upwards. A total yarding of 20,000 was catalogued, cur portion being 8000. This entry was approximately the same as last year’s of 19,800. “The usual lines of locally bred cast for age ewes were penned and for the top lines of these great interest was shown and bidding was most animated. Top price in the 4-year-old section was obtained by us for an annual draft of big framed, well bred, early shorn ewes offered on account of the Clare Estate, Waituna. These realised 34s Id. Last year’s price for this line was 295. Another top line offered by ourselves on account of L. N. J. Northcott, of Pahikikura realised 345. Last year’s price for these were 28s sd. These arc an annual draft of big-framed, good boned, early shorn ewes. Competition for local lines was keen and the market, remained firm right throughout the sale with values generally showing an appreciation of four to five shillings on last year’s fair. “There was the usual large attendance of the public, the majority being local farmers, there being practically a complete absence of outside buyers. | It would be safe to say that 95 per cent, of the yarding remained in the Manawatu. We report a very satisfactory sale withe prices in most eases in excess of vendoi’s reserves. What few pens were passed in at auction were all sold privately before the end of the day with the exception of one fine
