CONCLUDING AFTERNOON’S CARNIVAL PROGRAMME
Because of the lack of time the children’s races could not be stageci cn Cook's Gardens on Saturday afternoon as part of the originally arrange*! last day’s programme of the February Carnival. However, a comprehensive programme' of wood chopping events, tug-of-war competition, three from tests was witnessed by a fairly large attendance of the public. Six five-men teams entered for the tuf-orf-war competition, three from Kempthorne Prosser and Co., two representing the Lamba Wool Factory, and one from the Im lav Freezing Works. After a competition upon which was “staked” all hv niimere’” over-enthusiastic spectators, the K P. A team defeated the C combination of their fellow workers in the final pull. Resu'ts are ns follows: First, round: K.P. (C) beat K.P (B); K.P. (A) neat Lamba A; and Imlay beat Lamb? B Second round: K.P. (C> boat TmI lay, while K.P (A • had a bye. In the final pull lie tween the two K.P. teams the A five won after :t long struggle, the conclusion of which was in doubt until the end. The two finalist, teams were made up of the following:--KP.
