THREE YEARS GAOL FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF FORMER WIFE
(P.A.) Napier, Feb. 21. Commenting that he had taken into consideration the jury’s strong recommendation to mercy because it considered accused had been badly treated by those whose loyalty he was entitled to expect, Mr. Justice Christie to-day sentenced Cyril Walter Goodman, of Dannevirke, to three years’ hard labour. Goodman was found guilty of the attempted murder of his former wife, Kathleen Lucy Christiansen, at Dannevirke, on October 12, 1946, also with the discharge of a firearm, causing actual bodily harm to Christiansen on the same date.
