JAPANESE WAR CRIMES SUSPECT COMMITS SUICIDE
Recd 6 p.m. Kure, Jan. 29. Seizing a carving knife from a cookhouse at an air station post near the British Commonwealth Air Group at Iwakuni on Sunday a Japanese war crimes suspect committed suicide by cutting his throat. A Japanese captain, Seto Hisetaro, was one of a party of six suspects waiting transport to Hongkong where they were to appear before the War Crimes Tribunal. Under guard, he and another member of the party were sent to the cookhouse to collect rice for the mid-day meal.
