JEWS DETERMINED
ONE POINT GAINED BUT MORE WANTED IMMIGRATION OF RACE TO PALESTINE Recd. 6 p.m; London, Nov. 7. Despite the release of the Jewish Agency leaders there is little sign that i the agency intends to relax the ( struggle for Jewish statehood, “The ! Times” Jerusalem correspondent says. The Agency’s attitude > s that one small point has been gained, and now a bigger one, namely immigration, must be tackled. Mr. M. Shertok (head of the agency’s political department), at a Press conference on November 6, de-‘ scribed the detentinoh of the agency’s leaders as an attempt to discredit its authority. This attempt miscarried, and the Jews everywhere stood more solidly than ever behind the agency. The release of the leaders ana the resumption of the agency’s normal functions, though welcome, had not solved any of the grave problems coni’ onting the Jewish people in relation to Palestine. The crux of the matter remained, namely, freedom Cor Jewish immigration and establishment of Jews as a nation in their own country, and on a footing of equality with nations of the world. This, said Shertok, was the essence of Jewish Statehood, for which they were more determined than ever to strive.
