Mr. W. J. Rogers, of Te Aroha, has been appointed engineer to the Waitomo Electric-Power Board. The appointment of Mr. Duncan Cook to be Medical Supplies Controller, in place of Mr. P. J. Paul was gazetted last night. The death has occurred of Mr. Frank Catlins Ayson, district rehabilitation officer at New Plymouth, aged 49. He was a son of the late Mr. L. F. Ayson, a Dominion Inspector of Fisheries.

Mr. Frank Dfewitt (Wellington) was elected president at the annual conference of the New Zealand United Licensed Victuallers’ Association held in Wellington this week, Mr. S. Dunn (Wellington) having indicated his desire to retire from that position after several years’ service. Mr. Sydney Osmond, general manager of the A.M.P. Society, is at present visiting New Zealand on business. After a brief period in Wellington he will visit the chief centres of commercial activity in both the South and North Islands before returning to Sydney on November 12.

Dr. K. S. Francis Chang, professor of anatomy at St. John’s University, Shanghai, arrived in Auckland from Sydney by flying-boat on Tuesday afternoon. He will spend about, a year’s holiday in New Zealand before returning to China.

Mr. E. M. Jones, who has been manager of the National Bank, Onehunga, since 1934, has been transferred to the general manager’s office of the bank in Wellington. His successor is Mr. C. N. Thomas at the Wellington branch.
