MOTHER PUT ON PROBATION FOR ABANDONING NEWLY-BORN CHILD
(P.A.) Dunedin, Oct. 29. As a sequel to the discovery of a newly-born child at the Oamaru railway station, Irene Jessie Pointon, aged 30, married, of Christchurch, appeared before Mr. Justice Kennedy for sentence this morning on a charge of abandoning the infant. She was admitted to probation for one year.
