WAIMARINO NEEDS A YOUNGER MAN

REASON WHY MR. LANGSTONE HAS GONE NORTH (0.C.) Raetihi, Oct. 29. Explaining at a meeting at Raetihi to-night his reason for not contesting the Waimarino seat at the forthcoming general election, Mr F. Langstone. M.P., said the electorate wu now too vast in extent for him adequately to cope with. He could not drive a motor-car and he was too old to learn. ,It required a younger man to cover such great distances and keep in close contact with the people. That was the sole reason for his declining to contest the seat. "I owe the people of the Waimarino a deep debt of gratitude, for it is to them I owe my political existence, said Mr. Langstone. He acknowledged the support given him for more than 20 years, and said he was deeply appreciative of it.

It had been an honour and a privilege to serve them, and he had always endeavoured to merit the goodwill and confidence which had been reposed in him over the years. Mr. Langstone was thanked for his past services and wished every success for his contest in the Roskill seat in the Interests of the Labour Party. The meeting was well attended and was presided over bv Mr M. Geraghty, president of the Raetihi branch of the Labour Party. Before his address Mr. Langstone was given a welcome by members of the Raetihi Maori Club.
