FIRST REGAL VISIT TO MASTERTON

(P.A.) Masterton, Oct. 3. The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., and Lady Freyberg, paid their first official visit to Masterton to-day. They visited patients in the Masterton Hospital, and later met the children of the district primary and secondary schools al the Wairarapa College.

This afternoon a civic reception was held in the Park, where addresses were given by the Mayor of Masterton, Mr. W. Kemp, the chairman of the Masterton County Council, Mr. R. E. Gordon Lee, Mr. G. H. Mackley, M.P., and Mr. J. W. Card, Mayor of Featherston, in the absence of Mr. B. Roberts, M.P. After each had visited private clubs in Masterton Their Excellencies returned to Wellington.
