Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P. for Wanganui, has been elected chairman of the Maori Affairs Committee in succession to Mr. L. G. Lowry, M.P. for the Otaki electorate. Messrs. G. Beavis, M.Sc., and D. A. Tait, M.Sc., chemists to the Shell Company of New Zealand, have been elected to the associateship of the Royal Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland (AR.I.C.) Both went abroad recently for wider experience.
