FIRE ENGINE INVOLVED IN COLLISION ANSWERING FALSE ALARM

A malicious false alarm of lire on Saturday brought a fire engine out from the Wanganui Central Station post haste, and en route to the scene of a non-existent fire, it collided xvith another car. The call xvas received from the corner of Ingestre and Harrison Street al 7.30 p.m., and ax the engine was travelling down Guyton Street towards Campbell Street it collided xvi'h a car driven by Mr. E. L. Mi. ✓ Wanganui East. Fortunately, me driver of the engine xvas able to swerve and so lhe impact was more Gt a glancing blow than a head-on collision. The front of lhe car was badly knocked aoout and the engine damaged, but nobody was injured.
