CZECH POLITICAL SET-UP
LEFT AND RIGHT ARE ON EQUAL TERMS Recd. 9 p.m. London, May 28. The equality between th" Right, and Left in Czechoslovakia, artificially created in the provisional National Assembly, has been maintained by the free voles of the electorale in inn Constituent Assembly, says “The Times” Prague correspondent.
Over lhe whole country Communist; and Social Democrats, together, have slightly under 50 per cent., and the remaining parties slightly over 50 per cent, of the total votes. It remains to be seen bow the precarious equilibrium will work out. Czechoslovakia is developing a marked political squint, the Slovaks looking westward, and lhe Czechs eastward. Slovakia, with less than 25 per rent, of the populaiton, will probably hold the balance, deciding all the major issues. No major political developments are exacted until half a million vote-, remaining are allocated.
