WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAY IN N.S.W.
LEGISLATION PROVIDES FOR SATURDAY Sydney, May 16. A Saturday half-holiday for shop employees in New South Wales is established as a principle in the new Factories and Shops Amendment Act which will operate from June 1. Exceptions are chemists, confectioners, cooked provision merchants, fish, flour, fruit and vegetable shops, rerooms, cake and pastry-
cooks and newsagencies and tobacconists shops. After six months’ trial of Saturday half-holiday any municipality or shire may take a poll to determine whether another half-day shall be observed instead.
