Swept away by the flooded Rangltikei River while attempting to cross it in wild country at the back of Taihape, Gordon Anderton, manager of a farm at Pukeokahu, is believed to have been drowned. « Anderton was a member of a deer stalking partv of four which set out shooting on Friday. Two of the party would not. attempt the crossing and turned bark. but. Anderton and his brother made the attempt. Anderton's brother got safely over, but Gordon, was swept off his feet by the flood waters and disappeared. A larg« number of farmers have joined in the search under the direction of the Taihane police.
