NATIONAL PARTY IN RANGITIKEI
ENTHUSIASM AT ALL BRANCH MEETINGS (0.C.) Marton, April 10. Branch meetings of the National Party throughout the Rangitikei electorate have been well attended and augur well for the annual meeting of the electorate at Marton on Tuesday next. Members of the party have been very enthusiastic and have taken a keen interest in (lie proceedings at the meetings that have been held at Makirikiri, Taihape, Hunterville, and Fordell.
Mr. E. B. Gorden, M.P., has addressed the members on the leading topics of the day and also given an outline of the party’s policy. Messrs. J. Caithness (chairman of the electorate committee) and A. Wav (secretary) have explained the alterations in the boundaries and how they affect the electorates of Wanganui, Taumarunui, Rangitikei and Manawatu. Advice from headquarters states that the branches will carry on as usual until Parliament meets, when the Electorate Boundaries Bill will come before the members for their consideration. At Taihape the standing committee and officials were re-elected to carry on until a final decision is received from the National Party headquarters. AT HUNTERVILLE There was a record attendance of members at Hunterville on Monday evening, when Mr. Grant Simpson was re-elected chairman and Mr. P. S. Weston as secretary. All those present were elected as a general committee, including all the ladies who were present. The question of appointing canvassers for the different areas in the district will be finalised at the first committee meeting. The members were entertained at supper bv the ladies, who were thanked by Mr. E. B. Gordon for their splendid hospitality. FORDELL MEETING The meeting at Fordell on Tuesday evening was the largest assemblage of supporters from Mangamahu, Fordell, Ngaturi and the neighbouring districts. Mr. T. Mitchell presided, and referred to the loss that the district had suffered in the death of Mr. Don Sutherland, who had represented the district on a number of organisations, also as secretary of the Fordell branch for many years. A vote of condolence to relatives was carried by the members in silence.
The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Mr. T. Mitchell; vice-chairman, Mr. A. H. Collins; secretary, Miss L. Sutherland; committee, Mrs. A. H. Collins, Messrs. Acton, H. Keilick, H. Baker, J. Wyley, G. King, L. Campion, J. Hunter, R. Lilburn. L. A. Keilick, W. J. B. Tripe, D. Henderson, J. D. Beard, T. Melville, A. N. Sutherland, A. E. Fiyger and officers ex officio.

The Marton branch will meet at the Marton Jockey Club's rooms at 8 o’clock this (Thursday) evening, and members and supporters will be cordially welcomed.
On Friday afternoon at 2.30 the Marton women's section will hold their annual meeting at the Marton Jockey Club’s rooms, ana all ladies interested will be given a cordial welcome.
On Friday evening the annual meeting of the Rangiwahia branch will be held, and the Okoia branch meets on Saturday, 13th. On Monday evening ■ the Ohingaiti branch wilt hold its an- , nual meeting at t S o'clock. Messrs. E. B. t Gordon. M.P., J. Caithness and A. Wav will be in at- . tendance at all of the meetings.
