S ATI ’RD A V A I TER NOON S RACING. The Wanganui Sailing Club held two yacht races on the river on Saturday afternoon. There was a light br< ,n ze from a westerly quarter. The boats were sent away under handicaps and had lo cover a course of approximately live miles. The first race, the third in the series for the Henley Shield, attracted only two starters, the 14-footer Jellicoe class boat Cedric (R. Armit) and the Idle Along North Wind (R. Buller), the former winn ng comfortably from 1 he scraf.eM mark. North Wind started with 3min. in hand. In the other event, the third race in the Kiely Cup series for Takapuna class yachts, five boats lined up. The first boat in was Rosalie (M. Wall) scr., but she was disqualified for crossng the north training wall. The following was the result: Viking (N. Weekos). 14m : n. 1; Valerie (J. Deerness), l:hnin.. 2; .leanelle (IL Seddon), IDniin., 3. Also started: Avalon. the Ku’bv Union were thanked for their services. Tribute is paid in the report to Mr. and Mrs. U. Keneh for the mtvnv services given Ihe club in the past season.
