ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE FROM DETENTON
Recd. 9.5 p.m. Melbourne, March 7. An elaborate plot by soldiers to break out of the Geelong Army detention prison was discovered to-day. It is alleged that the bars of a thirdstorey cell window were cut. A fisherman who is the stepfather of one prisoner has been charged with aiding the attempt. Present information is that the job was begun with table knives serrated with a file. A guard saw a packet of hacksaw blades thrown over a wall.
