NO J-FORCE CHANGE

(P.A.) Wellington, March 6 Asked if there had been any alteration in the basis of obtaining men in New Zealand to relieve New Zealanders who are on their way from Italy for service in Japan, the Minister of Defence, Mr. F. Jones, said that there had been no change in the procedure as originally announced. A volunteer force was being provided to relieve those now en route to Japan from Italy, and the intention at present was to proceed on that basis. It had been suggested in a message 'rom Japan that If the term of the occupation of Japan were to be as long as it seemed, it might be possible that future Territorial training for the New Zea’and Military Forces might include a period of service in the occupation force.
