FLOWERBURN’S FORM

MORE SOLID WITH AGE Flowerburn is a far more solid horse this season than ever before. The Hazrat horse has now had three wins in open sprints, all on the Ellerslie course, since December 1, and should extend this record. He is in tip-top condition and requires very little work on the track to produce him at his best. The Zealandia Handicap winner was too speedy for the opposition on Saturday, the first day of the Auckland Racing Club’s midsummer meeting, but yesterday the weight he was asked to carry told in the final stages. Having his first outing of the current term, Flowerburn won the Ngataringa Handicap on December 1, beating Cambria and Kindroon, who both subsequently won good races. On December 8 Flowerburn finished second to Good Company in the Kirikiriroa Handicap at Te Rapa, but was placed third for running wide at the turn and carrying out Our Joy.

Flowerburn ran an excellent race in the Railway Handicap on Boxing Day, being right up behind the placed horses at the post. Then he won the Electric Handicap from Deprive and Tuis, but was unplaced in the Newmarket Handicap on January 1. His stake earnings this season are now £1625.

The only win Flowerburn had in ten starts last season was in the St. Patrick’s Handicap at the Ohinemuri meeting in March.
