NEW YEAR HONOURS (P.A. 1 Wellington, Jan. 29. The following honours and awards to New Zealand airmen appear in the New Year's honours list in the United Kingdom, according to advice received by the Air Department:— Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (0.8. E. Squadron-Leader Hayden Hugh James Miller, D.F.C., A.F.C., Morrinsville. Wing-Commander Lindsay Edward Durrant, Feilding. Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.8.E.) Flying-Officer Cyril John Hector, Runanga. Flying-Officer Stuart Edward Nicol, Christchurch. Flight-Lieutenant Raymond Brown Hcsselyn, D.F.C., D.F.M. and Bar, Christchurch. Flight-Lieutenant Robert Garth al Stark. Dunedin. * Pilot-Officer James George Barnes, Dunedin. Air Force Cross Flight-Lieutenant Henry Drury Alcock, Napier. Flight-Lieutenant William Paul Nevill Clark, Gimmerburn. Acting Squadron-Leader Athol Larry McGrath, D.F.C., Christchurch. Warrant Officer Jo eph Richard Turvey, D.F.M., Oamaru. British Empire Medal Flight-Sergeant R. G. M. Kennard, Christchurch. The following New Zealander aerving with the R.A.F. has also been awarded the Air Force Cross: Squad-ron-Leader Erickson Best, no next-of-kin in New Zealand. The Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to the following nine New Zealand airmen for gallantry on. opera, ions:— Flight-Lieutenant Keith Ross Simpson, Palmerston North. Flying-Olllcer Malcolm Andrew Austin, Ashburton. It is regretted the following seven airmen lost their lives on later operations before the original award was announced:— Acting Flight-Lieutenant Colin Frederick Penfold. Wellington.
