BOY DROWNED IN THE WANGANUI RIVER

SWIMMING NEAR DUBLIN ST.' BODY NOT YET RECOVERED. A boy was drowned in the Wanganui River, above the Dublin Street bridge, early yesterday afternoon. He was: BARRY DOWSETT, aged 9, son ot Mr. and Mrs. V. Dowsett, 46 Young Street, Wanganui East. With a young companion, Barry was swimming in the river when he suddenly disappeared. His companion went for help and people were quickly on the scen<> but no trace could be found of the missing boy. The police were notified and dragging operations were begun immediately by Constables H. H. Hudson, R. Hynds, and L. J. Stephenson, assisted by Mr. F. W. Jones. The body has not yet beer recovered.
