NEXT YEAR’S CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS

NO PLAY YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF RAIN (P.A.) Timaru, Jan. 18. At the annual croquet players' meeting to-day, it was announced that the 1947 New Zealand championships will be held either at Lower Hutt or Palmerston North. The North Is-.land championships will be at Hamilton, and the South Island championships at Invercargill.

Because of steady rain there was no play to-day in the Dominion croquet championships, in which 200 are competing. Elimination rounds were begun in the women’s singles, the level singles and the open championship, while the first and second division of the handicap singles is also under way. Play will be continued next week.
